Since we began as a small volunteer collective during the second-wave feminist movement, Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia has been guided by a vision of a world where all people can live in safety and freedom without experiencing violence.
And while a lot has changed since we were established in 1974, our core mission to support and advocate for people who have experienced sexual, domestic and family violence remains the same.
Our Association is made up of passionate members of the community who share this vision and mission, and who want to be a part of creating a society where sexual, domestic and family violence no longer exist.
Association members play a key role in the life of Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia. They meet at our annual general meeting every year to hear reports from the board, and shape the organisation's future by electing board members for the coming year.
Membership of the Association is open to women who are committed to our vision for a world free from sexual, domestic and family violence.
Men who support our work are welcome to join our Association as associate members. Associate members receive correspondence from the organisation and are invited to attend the annual general meeting, but are not permitted to vote, stand for election to the Association's board, or participate in any special general meeting of the Association.
