Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia (R&DVSA) EO Karen Willis has announced her resignation, effective as of 1 April 2021, having made a decision to take her career in a different direction.

R&DVSA acknowledges the major contribution Karen has made to the rights of women and all those impacted by sexual, domestic and family violence, to receive the highest standard of professional assistance in their recovery, and full redress for the crimes through the criminal justice system.

Several of the key issues which have been consistent throughout Karen’s public and advocacy work over her time with R&DVSA have been law reform, specialist sexual assault courts, workplace responsibilities for responding to sexual, domestic and family violence, and challenging victim blaming attitudes.

Karen has worked to end violence against women for over 40 years, commencing her role with R&DVSA in 2002. Karen’s vision has made R&DVSA the service it is today.

The Board and Staff of R&DVSA thank Karen for all her years of tireless advocacy and wish her all the best for the future.
