Vicarious Trauma Training

Educational strategies are a key for successful management of vicarious trauma. R&DVSA has therefore developed a suite of vicarious trauma training programs which aim to equip professionals at all levels (frontline and supervisory) with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively identify and respond to vicarious trauma.

Training packages

  • eLearning - An introduction to Vicarious Trauma (45 minutes)
  • Understanding Vicarious Trauma (4 hours)
  • Responding to Vicarious Trauma (4 hours)
    • Understanding & Responding to Vicarious Trauma can be delivered as a one day workshop. They are also prerequisites for the remaining training packages.
  • Supervising the Management of Vicarious Trauma (1 day)
    • Understanding & Responding to Vicarious Trauma is a prerequisite to this workshop.
  • Measuring Vicarious Trauma: Use of Psychometrics (1 day)
    • Understanding & Responding to Vicarious Trauma, Supervising the Management of Vicarious Trauma is a prerequisite to this workshop.
  • Self-Care Planning to Offset Vicarious Trauma (1 day)
    • Understanding & Responding to Vicarious Trauma, Supervising the Management of Vicarious Trauma is a prerequisite to this workshop.
